Hello Ghosties,
As some of you already know, in the past we used HMAC-MD5 for the OpenVPN packet authentication (See https://support.cyberghostvpn.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002122525-Why-does-CyberGhost-use-MD5-for-HMAC-)
We did however notice that still there was a huge demand from our customers to update the authentication algorithm to SHA256 and decided to make the switch on Thursday, 2nd of November.
If you use our apps, you don't need to do anything. The apps will automatically use the new authentication algorithm. If you are using your own OpenVPN setup (e.g. for Linux, Routers or other devices), make sure to either download a new configuration file from account.cyberghostvpn.com or make the modifications manually, changing "auth md5" to "auth sha256".
Below you can find the affected configurations.
Windows:
Mac OSX:
Android:
Linux:
Routers:
Other devices:
Kodi Media Center:
If you have any kind of difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact us trough our web form, live chat or in client support options.
Best wishes,
Cyberghost Support Team
