Read me first: How to use CyberGhost with native protocols on Windows, Mac OS, Android, and iOS

In case you want (or need) to operate your CyberGhost connection solely with a native protocol such as OpenVPN, PPTP, IPSec or L2TP, the following prerequisites are necessary: 

  • You need a CyberGhost account
  • You need a CyberGhost subscription (the Free Service doesn't include support of native protocols)
  • Depending on the platform and the protocol you want to use you might have to install additional software, sich as OpenVPN
  • You need an IPv4 Internet connection (IPv6 is not supported by CyberGhost)

How to: 

  1. Create a CyberGhost account: You can create an anonymous CyberGhost account for free online. Here you will find instructions on how to create it. For details about managing your CyberGhost account please refer to this article.
  2. Purchase a CyberGhost subscription: A monthly or yearly subscription can be ordered directly from within your account management.
  3. Choose the protocol to use and configure it: CyberGhost supports L2TP, IPSec, PPTP, and native OpenVPN.
  4. Deactivate IPv6, if necessary.
