Server for streaming purposes must meet special conditions, e. g. for speed and stability, but also for other aspects, since not all streaming services are easily available outside a certain region.
Server Choice
Start the CyberGhost VPN client by clicking on its desktop symbol or start menu entry and then click in the control screen on the yellow side lap to open the extended program view with all different server lists and settings.
To make sure you find a fitting streaming server fast and reliable, you can filter the server list by only displaying streaming-optimized servers. For that click on the left page on 'For streaming'.
Now decide for the country/platform combination you want to use. For example: You want to watch your US-American Amazon Prime content from abroad, then please decide for 'United States' as the country and 'Amazon Prime' as the platform.
As you can see the CyberGhost streaming optimized server list addresses a wide variety of country/platform combinations. That's why you find many countries as well as many platforms multiple times - just in different combinations. Simply go for the one you want.
Since your country of origin usually is also the country your streaming provider determined to be your region, you can simply use the search field to just display all platforms available for your region by entering your country.
To start the connection double click on the chosen country/platform combination or click on the yellow power button in the control screen. Once the connection is established, start a browser, open the streaming platform, log-in with your streaming account and start your content of choice.
It's recomended to add a working connection to your list of favorites. That way you spare some taps and can fire up the respective connection directly.
Please note that in streaming mode there is no possibility to choose a specific single server. Instead CyberGhost decides automatically for the best server to use.
If you want to connect to a certain single server in a certain country, switch back to 'All servers' and scroll through the list of all available single servers in that country. Decide for one with a simple click, but be aware, that your streaming server might not work with the server chosen due to a couple of reasons, such as being blocked by the resp. platform provider.
FAQ
Q: What entry should I use? The one with the country I live in?
A: No, resp. only then, if you are abroad. In general: Look out for the entry that includes both, the platform you want to stream from (e. g. Amazon) and the country the resp. platform operates in. For example: You live in Germany and need or want to watch Netflix USA, then 'United States, optimized for Netflix' is the right choice for you. Vice versa, you are a German Netflix user, visit a different country and want to use your German Netflix account, you need to choose 'Germany, optimized for Netflix'.
Q: The platform I want to stream from is not available here. Does it mean, I can't stream content from there at all?
A: No, not necessarely. First try to look out for the country you want to stream from. The solution CyberGhost provides might be optimized for a certain platform, but it might also be working for a different one. If to no avail, switch to 'All servers' and search there for the resp. country. Scroll through the list of all available single servers and decide for one, but be aware, that the platform you wish to access might detect you as using a VPN, so that at certain times you might have to try out quite a few single servers. Many times a streaming platform will allow access without checking, if a VPN is used or not.
Q: If the list for optimized streaming servers is open, will the 'Choose best server' button decide for the the most optimal general connection automatically?
A: No. 'Choose best server', resp. 'Best server location' will always reset any filter and decide for the best server in general, which could be any non-streaming server as well or a server in a completely different country than necessary.
