Payments may fail for several reasons. Here are some tips that may help:
Credit Card
Please note: To avoid multiple fees or a temporary hold on your funds, do not attempt to make a purchase repeatedly.
If you’ve tried to pay with a credit card but your account still isn’t active, there are a few common causes for this:
- You entered incorrect information (all information you provide during payment must match your credit card information).
- Your credit card doesn’t have the funds to make this payment.
- Your card has expired.
- Your payment attempt has triggered fraud-prevention measures. This might happen when you try to complete the payment while connected to a VPN or using a proxy. The fact that you have an unusual IP address (for example, an IP address from a different country from the one where your credit card was issued) can sometimes cause this issue.
- The transaction was rejected by the issuing bank. You can contact your bank to instruct them to authorize future payments.
If you’re not sure what the cause is, check with your bank to see if they have any information about the failed transactions and the status of your account. You should also check that your bank authorizes international payments.
PayPal
If paying by PayPal, make sure to add a debit or credit card to your PayPal account in order to complete the purchase. If the payment still fails, check your PayPal account for alerts or restrictions and contact PayPal support if necessary.
BitPay
If you tried to make a payment with BitPay but your account is still inactive, your transaction may not be confirmed yet; you should give it a bit more time. Confirmation times vary depending on the cryptocurrency network and transaction fee. If the payment remains unconfirmed for an extended period, you should contact BitPay support.
Google Pay
If you're paying with Google Pay, make sure the payment card linked to your Google account is valid, has sufficient funds, and hasn't expired. If the payment fails, check for any alerts from Google Pay or your bank and try the purchase again after resolving any issues with the linked payment method.
Apple Pay
If you’re paying with Apple Pay, make sure the card added to your Apple Wallet is active and has sufficient funds. You may also need to confirm the payment using Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
If the transaction fails, open the Wallet app to check for any alerts or issues with the card, or contact your bank to ensure the card is authorized for online or international payments. Once any issues are resolved, try completing the purchase again.
