When you connect to CyberGhost VPN, your device and the VPN server perform a secure process called a handshake. During this process, they securely create shared encryption keys that will be used to protect data sent through the VPN tunnel.
These encryption keys are generated automatically for your VPN session and are used to encrypt and decrypt traffic between your device and the VPN server. This helps prevent unauthorized parties from reading your data while it travels across the internet.
CyberGhost VPN also uses perfect forward secrecy (PFS), which creates new encryption keys for every VPN session. This means that if one session key were ever compromised, it could not be used to decrypt data from previous VPN sessions and would not affect the security of future sessions.
