This article explains how to share your CyberGhost VPN connection from a Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC to another device using an Ethernet cable.

Requirements
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- CyberGhost VPN installed on your Windows device
- An Ethernet cable
If your PC only has one Ethernet port and no Wi-Fi, this setup won’t work.
Your other device also needs to support a wired Ethernet connection and allow manual network settings. Most smart TVs, game consoles, and streaming devices do, but check your device's manual to confirm.
Step 1: Connect the Devices
Connect your Windows device and the other device with the Ethernet cable. Make sure both devices are turned on before you start.
Step 2: Share Your VPN Connection Over Ethernet
- Open the CyberGhost VPN app on your Windows device and connect to a VPN server.
- Press Windows key + R. Type in “ncpa.cpl,” then click OK.
- Right-click the connected CyberGhost network adapter and select Properties.
The adapter name depends on the VPN protocol you use:
- Wintun Tunnel: If you're using the OpenVPN protocol.
- WAN Miniport: If you're using the IKEv2 protocol.
- WireGuard Tunnel: If you're using the WireGuard protocol.
- Select the Sharing tab, and check the box next to Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection.
- From the Home networking connection dropdown menu, choose the Ethernet connection linked to the device you want to share the VPN connection with. This may be Ethernet or Ethernet 2.
- Click OK to save the changes.
You have now shared your CyberGhost VPN connection over Ethernet on Windows.
Step 3: Test the Connection
On your other device, open the browser or network settings and check that it has internet access. To confirm the VPN is working, open a browser on the other device and visit whoer.net
It should show the IP address of the CyberGhost server you connected to, not your real IP address.
If it shows your real IP address, the VPN connection isn’t being shared correctly. Consider the troubleshooting steps below.
Troubleshooting
The Other Device Can’t Connect to the Internet
- Make sure CyberGhost VPN is connected on your Windows PC.
- Check that you selected the correct Ethernet adapter in the Home networking connection dropdown in step 2.
- Try disabling your Windows firewall or antivirus temporarily to see if it's blocking the connection.
The Sharing Option Is Greyed Out
- Make sure your PC is connected to the internet before enabling sharing.
- Try restarting your PC and repeating Step 2.
The VPN Connection Drops
CyberGhost VPN must stay connected on your Windows PC for the shared connection to work. If it disconnects, the other device will lose VPN protection.
