This article explains how to share your CyberGhost VPN connection from a Windows 11 device to another device over Wi-Fi using the Mobile Hotspot feature.
Note: This guide is for Windows 11 only. If you are using Windows 10, see our Windows 10 guide.

Step 3: Share Your VPN Connection with the Hotspot
Step 1: Set Up Mobile Hotspot
- Click the Start button and open Settings (or press Windows + I).
-
Go to Network & internet, then select Mobile Hotspot.
-
Toggle on Mobile Hotspot. Under Share my internet connection from, select your active internet adapter (usually Wi-Fi).
-
Click Edit to set a custom network name and password for your hotspot.
Make a note of the network name and password; you will need them later in the setup.
Step 2: Start CyberGhost VPN
Open CyberGhost VPN on your Windows 11 device and connect to a VPN server.
Important: Keep CyberGhost VPN connected while you complete the next steps.
Step 3: Share Your VPN Connection with the Hotspot
-
Press Windows + R, type “ncpa.cpl,” and press Enter.
- Find the CyberGhost VPN adapter, right-click it, and select Properties.
-
Go to the Sharing tab and check Allow other network users to connect through this computer's Internet connection.
-
Under Home networking connection, select the mobile hotspot adapter. This is usually listed as Local Area Connection* with a number.
-
Click OK to save.
Step 4: Connect Your Device
On the device you want to connect, open Wi-Fi settings and connect to the hotspot using the name and password you set in step 1. That device's connection will now be routed through your CyberGhost VPN tunnel.
Step 5: Test the Connection
On the connected device, open a browser and visit whoer.net. It should show the IP address of the CyberGhost server you connected to, not your real IP address.
If it shows your real IP address, the VPN connection is not being shared correctly, and you should proceed to the troubleshooting steps below.
Important: CyberGhost VPN must stay connected on your Windows 11 device for the shared connection to work. If it disconnects, the other device will lose VPN protection.
Troubleshooting
- The hotspot adapter does not appear in the dropdown: Try turning the mobile hotspot off and back on again in Settings, then repeat step 3. The adapter should then appear in the list.
- The other device connects to the hotspot but has no internet: Make sure CyberGhost VPN is still connected on your Windows 11 device. Also check that you selected the correct hotspot adapter in step 3.
- The sharing option is greyed out: Make sure your PC has an active internet connection before enabling sharing. Try restarting your PC and repeating step 3.
