Wi-Fi Protection lets CyberGhost VPN automatically respond when your Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick connects to a Wi-Fi network. This guide explains how to turn on Wi-Fi Protection and choose what CyberGhost does when you connect to a network.
What is Wi-Fi Protection?
Wi-Fi Protection is a CyberGhost VPN setting that lets you set different rules for secure, unsecured, and specific Wi-Fi networks. These rules decide what CyberGhost does when your Amazon Fire TV or Fire Stick connects to them.
Set Up Automatic Wi-Fi Protection
- Open the app settings by selecting the gear symbol.
- Go to the Wi-Fi tab and toggle Wi-Fi Protection on.
- Select Secure Wi-Fi, Unsecured Wi-Fi, or Manage Wi-Fi Networks.
- Secure Wi-Fi: Refers to password-protected networks, such as a home Wi-Fi network.
- Unsecured Wi-Fi: Refers to open networks that don’t require a password.
- Manage Wi-Fi Networks: Lets you pick a specific network you’ve previously connected to.
For each network or network type, choose one of the following actions:
- Ask: CyberGhost asks what action to take when your device connects to this type of Wi-Fi network.
- Protect: CyberGhost automatically starts a VPN connection when your device connects to this type of Wi-Fi network.
- Disable protection: CyberGhost disconnects when your device connects to this type of Wi-Fi network.
- Ignore: CyberGhost takes no action when your device connects to this type of Wi-Fi network. If the VPN is already connected, it stays connected.
After Wi-Fi Protection is configured, CyberGhost is ready to respond based on the rules selected. You can now choose the VPN server location you want to use.
