This guide explains how to configure Wi-Fi protection and choose what happens when you connect to unconfigured Wi-Fi.
Unconfigured Wi-Fi
The Unconfigured Wi-Fi setting determines how CyberGhost behaves when your Android TV connects to a Wi-Fi network that hasn’t been previously configured in the app. Here’s how to set it up.
- From the main dashboard, select the cog icon in the top-right corner to open Settings.
- Go to the Wi-Fi tab.
- Enable Wi-Fi Protection.
- Select Unconfigured WiFi.
Choose the action CyberGhost should take when your Android TV connects to an unconfigured Wi-Fi network.
You can choose from the following actions:
- Ask: CyberGhost will prompt you to choose what to do each time your Android TV connects to an unconfigured Wi-Fi network.
- Protect: CyberGhost will automatically connect to the VPN when an unconfigured Wi-Fi network is detected.
- Disable protection: CyberGhost will automatically disconnect from the VPN when connected to an unconfigured Wi-Fi network.
- Ignore: CyberGhost will take no action and leave the current VPN connection state unchanged.
Manage Wi-Fi Networks
This setting lets you view and adjust Wi-Fi networks that have already been configured in Wi-Fi Protection. Here’s how to access it.
- From the main dashboard, select the cog icon in the top-right corner to access Settings.
- Select the Wi-Fi tab.
- Enable Wi-Fi Protection.
- Access the Limited protection menu.
- If prompted, grant the permissions the app is missing.
- Select any missing permission to open a window to allow access.
- Once all required permissions have been granted, you’ll be redirected to the Wi-Fi Protection settings, where you can access Manage Wi-Fi Networks.
- Select the Wi-Fi network you wish to manage
- Choose how CyberGhost should behave when your Android TV connects to this Wi-Fi network.
- Ask: Prompts you to choose an action each time your Android TV connects to this network.
- Protect: Automatically connects to CyberGhost VPN when your Android TV connects to this network.
- Disable protection: Automatically disconnects CyberGhost VPN when your Android TV connects to this network.
- Ignore: Leaves the current VPN state unchanged when your Android TV connects to this network.
