After installing the CyberGhost app on your Android TV, you can customize its settings to suit your preferences. This guide explains how to access those settings and what each feature does.
How to Access the Settings Menu
To access CyberGhost settings, simply select the cog icon in the top right corner.
On the next screen, there are 3 tabs for the following settings:
- General: Lets you adjust the app’s behavior, such as startup preferences, notifications, and interface options.
- VPN: Controls your VPN connection settings, including the ability to connect or disconnect, choose server locations, and manage protocol or security preferences.
- Wi-Fi: Allows you to manage how the app behaves on different networks, including trusted or excluded Wi-Fi connections and automatic connection rules.
General
This tab allows you to set the app’s behavior, manage your account, and read various documents.
- Use domain fronting: Enables or disables a connection method designed to help maintain VPN access in restrictive networks.
- Share network data for troubleshooting: Allows the app to send diagnostic connection data to help identify and fix technical issues.
- Privacy preferences: Opens settings related to data usage, diagnostics, and personalization preferences.
- Article catalog: Provides access to informational help articles and guides about using the app.
- Report a problem: Lets you submit feedback or report technical issues directly to Customer Support.
- Terms & Conditions: Opens the legal terms governing use of the service.
- Privacy policy: Shows how user data is collected, used, and protected.
- Imprint: Displays company/legal disclosure information, depending on region.
On the same screen, you can also access the following options:
- Delete my account: Permanently removes your account and associated data, in line with the service’s data retention policies.
- App version: Displays the current installed version of the application for reference and troubleshooting.
- Log out: Signs you out of the app on the current device.
VPN
This tab lets you manage your VPN connection and advanced networking settings. Available options include:
- Connection checker: Tests whether your VPN connection is working correctly and confirms your current protection status.
- Dedicated IP: Allows you to use a fixed IP address that is assigned only to your account (if included in your plan).
- VPN protocol: Lets you choose the connection protocol used to establish the VPN tunnel, which can affect speed and stability.
- Small packet size: Optimizes data transmission by adjusting packet size, which may improve performance on unstable networks.
- Use random port: Changes the network port used for the VPN connection, which can help improve connectivity in restricted networks.
- Content Blocker: Helps block ads, trackers, and malicious websites while using the VPN (if enabled).
- App Split Tunnel: Lets you choose which apps use the VPN connection and which connect directly to the internet.
Wi-Fi
This tab has one setting: Wi-Fi Protection. It lets you choose whether the VPN automatically activates or adjusts its behavior when you connect to new Wi-Fi networks, helping protect your connection on unsecured or public networks.
