Given that CyberGhost VPN will intercept all network traffic after you connect to it, and that all other data from the application is transmitted by the CyberGhost VPN application on your Android device, this may lead to an increase in battery or network usage for the application.
Below are some tips that you can apply to avoid high battery consumption :
- Switch to WireGuard protocol. It has been proven to offer superior performance while causing less stress to the battery.
- Be sure to connect to CyberGhost only when you require your connection to be encrypted.
- Ensure that no other applications are running in the background.
-
Consider choosing the Battery Saver option from the Preferences menu to pause the VPN when the device screen is cleared. The VPN will then disconnect when the screen is cleared and will automatically reconnect when the screen becomes visible again. This option may extend battery life, however, it should not be used if you have applications running in the background that requires ongoing Internet access via the VPN.
- Set up the VPN on your router instead, in case you use your device very often at home.
