Select a Country
To connect to one of the available countries, just open a Terminal window after installing CyberGhost VPN and type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code (country code) --connect
Then press Enter. For example, if you want to connect to a US server, type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code US --connect
For Germany, you would type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code DE --connect
CyberGhost VPN will display a VPN connection established message once the connection is successful.
To see a list of available countries and their country codes, type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code > press Enter
Note: You can always type in "cyberghostvpn" in the Terminal and press Enter to see the list of available commands.
Select a City
To see a list of available locations of a specific country, type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code (country code)
For example, to see a list of cities in the US, type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code US
To connect to a specific city, like New York, type:
sudo cyberghostvpn --traffic --country-code US --city "New York" --connect
To confirm that you're successfully connected to the VPN you can type in cyberghostvpn --status or you can visit a site such as https://www.iplocation.net/ to check your IP address. Make sure you wait a few seconds after connecting to the VPN server. It's also advisable to check your IP using incognito mode, as some sites often rely on cookies which can store details about your location.
