This guide shows you how to set up CyberGhost Smart DNS on your Nintendo Wii U, so you can configure your console to use Smart DNS in just a few steps.
Note: Our SmartDNS feature is no longer compatible with streaming services. It can still be used for general DNS purposes.
Before you begin, make sure Smart DNS is enabled in your CyberGhost account.
- Sign in to the Account Dashboard.
- Open the Smart DNS tab, locate the Console Smart DNS section (i.e Xbox or PlayStation), and copy the DNS address from any available column.
Set up Smart DNS
Once Smart DNS is active, follow these steps on your Nintendo Wii U.
- Press the HOME button on your Wii U GamePad.
- Open System Settings.
- Select Internet.
- Choose Connect to the Internet.
- Tap Connections in the upper-right corner.
- Select the Wi-Fi network your Wii U uses.
- Choose Change Settings.
- Scroll through the settings until you reach DNS, then select it.
- Select Don't Auto-Obtain.
- Enter the following DNS settings:
- Primary DNS: Enter the Smart DNS address shown in your Account Dashboard.
- Secondary DNS: Leave this field blank.
- Select Confirm to save your changes.
- Press the HOME button to exit.
Note: Smart DNS is linked to your public IP address. If your IP address changes, you'll need to reactivate Smart DNS in the Account Dashboard. You won't need to update the DNS settings on your Wii U unless the Smart DNS addresses themselves change.
