This guide will show you how to configure CyberGhost Smart DNS for your PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Note: Smart DNS works differently from a VPN connection. It changes how some DNS requests are handled, but it doesn‘t encrypt your internet traffic or provide the same privacy and security protections as the CyberGhost VPN app.

Set Up Smart DNS on Your PS4 and PS5
Enable Smart DNS
Before you begin, you need to enable Smart DNS in your CyberGhost VPN account to get the Smart DNS server addresses.
- Sign into your CyberGhost VPN account.

Select Smart DNS from the left-hand menu.

Select Enable Smart DNS.
- Under PlayStation, you’ll see a list of smart DNS server addresses. Make a note of the one you want to use.
Keep the tab open and switch on your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
Set Up Smart DNS on Your PS4 or PS5
Before changing your DNS settings, make a note of your current settings. You’ll need them if you want to restore your original setup later.
- Go to your PlayStation’s settings menu.
- Select Network.
- Select Set Up Internet Connection.
- Select Use Wi-Fi or Use a LAN Cable, depending on how you connect your PlayStation to the internet.
- Select Custom.
- Select your Wi-Fi network. Skip this step if you use a LAN cable.
- Select Automatic.
- Under DHCP Host Name, choose Do Not Specify.
- Under DNS Settings, select Manual.
- Under Primary DNS, enter the DNS address from the Smart DNS page on your account dashboard. Leave Secondary DNS blank.
- Under MTU Settings, select Automatic.
- Under Proxy Server, select Do Not Use.
- After your internet settings have been updated, select Test Internet Connection.
- Restart your PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 for the DNS changes to take effect.
