Loss of Internet Connection Once Smart DNS Is Set Up
Smart DNS is linked to one public IP address at a time. If Smart DNS isn’t working, it may have been activated for a different IP address than the one currently assigned to your network.
This can happen if your internet provider uses dynamic IP addresses and your public IP address has changed since Smart DNS was activated.
To refresh your Smart DNS settings:

Log into your account dashboard. Make sure that your device is connected to the same network as the device you want to use Smart DNS on.

Go to the Smart DNS section and click the Get a new Smart DNS button.

Click Enable Smart DNS.
- Test whether the Smart DNS is now working on your TV or gaming device.
Smart DNS Couldn’t Be Enabled Due to IPv6
Smart DNS can only be enabled for IPv4 addresses. For some networks, however, both protocols (IPv4 and IPv6) are enabled. If you get this error, your network also has IPv6.

Streaming Service Is Unavailable

If you’ve successfully set up Smart DNS on your device but your preferred streaming service doesn’t work, here are several steps to try:
- Clear the cache of that specific streaming application.
- Uninstall and reinstall the streaming application.
- Reboot your device.
- If your device has the capacity for two DNS servers, try entering the same Smart DNS server on both lines.
In some cases, network settings or restrictions outside of CyberGhost's control may affect Smart DNS functionality. If the issue persists, contact your internet provider to check whether any network settings could be preventing custom DNS configurations from working properly.
