What is Smart DNS?
A Smart DNS is a service you can use on devices that do not natively support VPN apps. It does not change your IP and does not encrypt your connection like a VPN does, but instead it offers better speed for watching video content. This feature will let you stream content like US Netflix, US Hulu, UK Netflix, and others.
How does Smart DNS work?
As the name implies, this feature simply works by changing the DNS servers on your device from your local servers (which contain information that can reveal your location) to our DNS servers based in the US, UK, DE, and JP.
Will my connection be encrypted?
No, you connection will not be encrypted. Smart DNS is not meant for security purposes.
Will my IP be hidden/changed?
Your IP address is not changed. It will only change your DNS addresses, as the name suggests.
How many devices can I use simultaneously with CyberGhost Smart DNS service ?
There is no limit to the number of devices you can use as long as they are located in the same network and have the same external IP address.
Can ISPs interfere with the Smart DNS service ?
It is worth mentioning that in some situations Smart DNS cannot be used successfully. If your Internet Service Provider diverts the DNS while using a technology called 'Transparent DNS proxy', they intercept all DNS lookup queries (TCP/UDP port 53) and transparently proxy the results. This forces you to use their DNS addresses without being able to change them. Smart DNS might have issues.
In other cases, port 53 (DNS) may be intentionally blocked. In such a situation, we recommend that you submit a request for unblocking to your ISP's technical support department.
Should the above solutions not work for you and you still can't use Smart DNS as foreseen, try an alternative way to use CyberGhost VPN on your TV or console:

Can I use Smart DNS and VPN simultaneously ?
You cannot use both VPN and Smart DNS service at the same time because they conflict with each other.
As long as the CyberGhost VPN application can be installed on your specific device, you do not need to use Smart DNS. The CyberGhost VPN application will provide you with more functionality on any device.
