CyberGhost VPN
In the CyberGhost VPN tab, you’ll find the following settings:
- VPN protocol: Select the VPN protocol you want to use. You can choose between OpenVPN, IKEv2, and WireGuard. By default, CyberGhost VPN automatically chooses the best protocol to use based on your network connection. For more information about supported protocols, click here.
- Use random port to connect: Have CyberGhost VPN establish connections through a randomly chosen port with each new connection instead of a fixed port. This setting is only available when using the OpenVPN protocol.
- MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) size: Choose the maximum amount of data that will be sent in a single network packet. Adjusting the size can help improve connection performance on certain networks.
- Disable IPv6 connections when connected to the VPN: Helps prevent data leaks by blocking IPv6 traffic while the VPN is active, reducing the risk of data leaks in browsers or apps that may use IPv6.
- Repair virtual network card: Attempts to fix the VPN’s network driver if it's been damaged or disabled due to software conflicts.
Privacy Guard
In the Privacy Guard tab, you’ll find the following settings:
- Monitor Changes: If enabled, Privacy Guard will monitor your system and notify you if Windows makes any changes that conflict with your selected optimizations.
- Export Optimization List: Saves your optimization settings, so you can easily apply them on another device.
Security Updater
In the Security Updater tab, you’ll find the following settings:
- Activate Security Updater: Turns Security Updater on or off.
- Background Scanner: If enabled, Security Updater will automatically scan your system every 6 hours. Turn this off if you prefer to initiate scans manually.
- Vulnerability notifications: Choose how often you’ll receive reminders about apps with potential security vulnerabilities.
- Update notifications: Choose how often you’ll receive reminders about apps that haven’t been updated to their latest versions.
- Allow untested software: Normally, you’re only notified of a new update after it’s been installed by at least 5% of other users with Security Updater. Enable this setting to receive update notifications immediately without any preconditions.
- Allow experimental software: Normally, Security Updater doesn’t notify you of new beta, alpha, and developer versions. Enable this setting if you want to receive these notifications.
Antivirus
If you haven’t installed Intego Antivirus on your device yet, you’ll only see an Install button on this page. Otherwise, you’ll find the following settings:
- Real-time protection: When enabled, the antivirus scans files when they are downloaded, opened, or modified to protect you from cyber threats.
- Cloud protection: When enabled, detected malware samples may be sent to a cloud-based database for analysis and improved threat detection.
- Last virus definitions update: Shows when your virus definitions were last updated. Virus definitions are automatically updated every few hours, but you can manually update them by clicking Update virus definitions.
- Versions: Displays the current versions of your virus definitions and antivirus engine.
- Uninstall Antivirus: Click Uninstall to uninstall Intego Antivirus from your device.
