CyberGhost VPN Server Categories
All Servers
This category lists all the regular servers across every country we offer.
-
Expand the CyberGhost VPN menu using the arrow in the top left.
-
Select All servers to see the full list of country locations.
-
To narrow your choice to a specific city or server, expand a country using the dropdown arrow to see its full list.
Once the full list is displayed, select the server you wish to connect to, then press the power button to connect.
Favorites
CyberGhost VPN includes a Favorites category, where you can save the servers you connect to most often.
To add a server to Favorites, select the star next to its name. The server is added to the category right away.
To remove a server from Favorites, select the star again so it is no longer highlighted, and it will disappear from the favorites list immediately.
For Downloading
This category lists servers optimized for P2P traffic, such as downloading open-source software or research datasets. Not all countries permit P2P, so these servers are located where it is allowed.
To connect, expand the CyberGhost VPN menu, select For downloading, then choose one of the servers listed on the right.
Server distance is one of several things that affect your speed. For better performance, try a download server closer to your physical location.
For Streaming
The For streaming category includes connections optimized for streaming.
To connect, expand the CyberGhost VPN menu, select For streaming, then choose one of the servers listed on the right.
For better results, clear your browser's cache and cookies after connecting, then open the streaming platform in your browser.
To comply with the streaming platform's Terms of Use, connect to a server location that matches the country you are currently in.

Dedicated IP
This category applies only to subscriptions that include the Dedicated IP add-on. You can select Dedicated IP from the left-hand menu to activate your Dedicated IP token and find the location of your dedicated server.

How to Change the VPN Protocol
A protocol is the set of rules that establishes a secure connection between the app and the VPN server. On macOS, CyberGhost VPN supports two protocols: IKEv2 and WireGuard.
Both offer similar security. Performance can vary from one connection to the next, so if a connection is not performing as expected, you can switch between them in the app:
-
Select the gear icon, then select Preferences.
-
In the General tab, under Protocol, choose between IKEv2 and WireGuard.
Note: WireGuard needs a helper tool to connect. The first time you connect using this protocol, you’ll get a pop-up to install it.
