How to configure Windows Firewall to unblock CyberGhost?

This is how you configure your Windows Firewall in case you suspect it blocks CyberGhost from working correctly :

1. Add the following 6 rules in your Windows firewall :

3 outbound rules

  • Dashboard.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files).
  • Dashboard.Service.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files)
  • OpenVPN.exe - must add x64 and x86 *.exe files available in the sub-folder "OpenVPN" of the CyberGhost VPN program directory :
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x64
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x86

3 inbound rules

  • Dashboard.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files).
  • Dashboard.Service.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files)
  • OpenVPN.exe - must add x64 and x86 *.exe files available in the sub-folder "OpenVPN" of the CyberGhost VPN program directory :
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x64
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x86

2. If you are using another third-party firewall or antivirus software, create a rule for CyberGhost in the application's settings.

Make sure you put these files in the exception list of your Firewall / Antivirus:
  • Dashboard.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files)
  • Dashboard.Service.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files)
  • wyUpdate.exe (available in the CyberGhost VPN program directory: c:\Program Files)
  • PeLauncher.exe (available in c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN)
  • OpenVPN.exe - must add x64 and x86 *.exe files available in the sub-folder "OpenVPN" of the CyberGhost VPN program directory :
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x64
    • c:\Program Files\CyberGhost 8\Applications\VPN\Data\OpenVPN\x86
