CyberGhost VPN may fail to install after a Windows 10 upgrade if system components, permissions, or security settings changed during the upgrade.
After each step, try to install CyberGhost VPN again. If the issue is fixed, you can skip the remaining steps.

Pre-Requisite
Before you continue with the guide, make sure you pause your antivirus or firewall to prevent false-positive alarms on the CyberGhost installer. The steps will be different based on the antivirus solution you are using.
Step 1: Uninstall and Reinstall CyberGhost VPN

Open Control Panel from the Start Menu.

Go to Programs and click Uninstall a program.

Uninstall CyberGhost VPN.
- Reinstall CyberGhost by following our steps.
Step 2: Change the Compatibility Mode

Go to the CyberGhost installation folder. It’s usually in Local Disk (C:) >Program Files > CyberGhost 8. Find the CyberGhost VPN executable, right-click it, and select Properties.

Go to the Compatibility tab and check the Run this program in compatibility mode for box. Select Windows 8 in the drop-down. Hit Apply and Ok.
Step 3: Run CyberGhost as Administrator
To run CyberGhost VPN as an administrator, right-click the executable and select Run as administrator. When asked to give administrative permissions, click Yes.
If you want to apply the Run as administrator setting permanently, follow these steps:

Right-click the CyberGhost VPN executable and select Properties.

Go to the Compatibility tab and check the Run this program as an administrator box. Hit Apply and OK.
