You can disable IPv6 on macOS by running a few commands in the Terminal app.
- Open the Apps icon in the Dock, then search for "Terminal" and open it.
- Run the command below to list your network services, then enter your Mac administrator password when prompted. The list shows your services, usually including Wi-Fi, and an asterisk (*) next to a name means that a service is disabled.
sudo networksetup -listallnetworkservices- Run the following command to disable IPv6 on the service you're connected through. Replace "Wi-Fi" with your service name if it's different, exactly as it appears in the list, and put it in quotation marks if the name contains spaces:
sudo networksetup -setv6off Wi-Fi- IPv6 is now disabled on that service.
To turn IPv6 back on later, run this command (replacing "Wi-Fi" with your service name):
sudo networksetup -setv6automatic Wi-FiNeed assistance? Contact our Customer Support team:
