This guide explains how to disable IPv6 on Linux using Network Manager. Disabling IPv6 may help prevent connectivity issues and IPv6 traffic leaks when using services that only support IPv4. This includes certain CyberGhost features, such as Smart DNS, which currently operates over IPv4 only.
Important: The exact names of menus and options may vary depending on your Linux distribution and desktop environment. The steps in this guide were created using Ubuntu 26.04, so you may notice minor differences on other distributions or Ubuntu versions.

In the top-right corner, open network settings and open the Wired options.

Select Wired Settings.

Click the gear icon next to the connection you want to modify.

Open the IPv6 tab.

Change the IPv6 Method setting to Disable and click Apply to confirm the changes.
