Did you recently install CyberGhost VPN and find your emails suddenly stuck in your outbox? When you connect to a VPN, your outgoing location shifts to a new server IP address that’s often shared with other users. Some email providers and mail servers may treat messages sent from unfamiliar or low-reputation IP addresses with additional scrutiny, which can sometimes result in outgoing emails being delayed, flagged, or blocked.
Try temporarily disabling your VPN and sending an email again. If your messages go through, use the troubleshooting instructions below to fix the issue with the VPN.

Connect to a Different Server
Switching servers assigns you a new IP address that may not trigger your email provider's spam filters. Choosing a server in your actual location also prevents suspicious activity alerts.
Disconnect your VPN and select a different server before sending another email.

Enable Split Tunneling
CyberGhost VPN includes split tunneling features that let you exclude specific email apps or websites from the VPN tunnel, depending on your device. If you're unable to send email while connected to CyberGhost VPN, you can configure split tunneling so that your email traffic uses your regular internet connection instead of the VPN.
- Windows: Use Smart Rules > Exceptions to exclude your email provider's website from the VPN tunnel. Learn more in our full guide to using Smart Rules on Windows.
- Android: Use App Split Tunnel to exclude your email app from the VPN tunnel. Learn more in our full guide to using split tunneling on Android.
CyberGhost VPN doesn’t support split tunneling for iOS, macOS, or Linux.
With these settings enabled, only your email traffic bypasses the VPN and is routed through your regular network connection, while the rest of your internet traffic remains protected by the VPN.
Note: Traffic that bypasses the VPN tunnel is not protected by the VPN. Any email apps or websites excluded through split tunneling will use your regular internet connection and will not benefit from VPN encryption or IP masking.
Use a Dedicated IP
A dedicated IP address is a great alternative if you prefer to keep your VPN active across all apps or can’t use split tunneling. This CyberGhost VPN feature gives you a unique, personal IP address unlikely to trigger spam filters.
Note: A dedicated IP is a paid add-on, not part of your regular CyberGhost VPN subscription. Learn how to add a dedicated IP address to your subscription here.
You can redeem and activate your dedicated IP following the instructions below:
